AUTMHQ UPDATES Hola and Hello! It's already 2022! Can you believe how fast time flies? ⏰ This is why we should live each day to the fullest. In the new year, I've resolved to make each of my days extraordinary by instilling a "why" into every single task I undertake – both professionally and personally. I'd like to extend the same invitation to you. The motivation behind our actions has a significant effect on the impact they create. For example, every time I talk about AUTMHQ as an organization, I explain how there is always a big accomplishment met every day. Whether it's enrolling a new family or individual in our programs, seeing an AUTMite graduate, forming new partnerships, experiencing a significant increase in reach and engagement through our marketing campaigns, reading a new testimonial, or learning about tech companies impacted by our message, there's always something that adds a new checkmark to our mission. This is why AUTMHQ is doing everything possible to ensure that our mission of bridging the gap between the Black and Hispanic communities and the tech industry is achieved. Beginning with MLK Day of Service, we serve our communities to honor Martin Luther King's legacy. The Black Tech Summit will come next, followed by our ReThink Austin 2022 edition, which will be a full day of exciting events! We are also holding a Texas Technology For All marathon to help us reach our petition signature goal on the change.org website. Building the Future of Fintech: Why Gender Diversity Matters

Fintech firms of all sizes agree that a commitment to diversity is a social good – but how are they making the business case for building diverse teams?
You would think that the rational commercial case for greater gender diversity throughout the finance sector, and particularly within fintech, would be enough?
After all, it sounds easy enough – more women in fintech firms = more products that meet specific needs = more customers. That's math even I can do.
Yet new research for the Fintech Diversity Radar and our FDR1000 index of fintech firms into the representation of women across the fintech sector tells a very, often surprisingly, different picture.

AAMC proves the power of a formal DEI strategy
Footnotes on business strategy, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) are no longer a top priority for companies looking to have a positive impact on retention, recruitment, and revenue.
The American Medical College Association (AAMC), which has been working on DEI for many years, is one such organization that takes a formal and strategic approach to DEI both inside and outside the workplace. Understanding the importance of DEI in the modern workforce, according to Yvonne Massenberg, the organization officially launched the “Internal Focus on Diversity, Fairness and Comprehensiveness” in 2019 by George Floyd. Texas is the fastest-growing state in the country again, U.S. Census data shows

When it came to population growth last year, Texas grew by more people than can fit into three Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadiums, once again making the Lone Star State the fastest-growing in the nation, U.S. Census data shows.
Despite overall population growth in the United States is the lowest its ever been, both Texas and Florida saw significant increases. People migrating to Texas and Florida from other states accounted for the largest contributor to the recent population boom.

Texas Technology for All – Sign the Petition at change.org

In order to assist Texans with the greatest need for technology education and internet access, Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) has partnered with other organizations to launch a regional campaign for low-income, underserved, and underrepresented communities. Our Texas Technology for All nonpartisan campaign has three components:
1. Provide internet access for low-income, underserved, and underrepresented communities. 2. Connect low-income, underserved, and underrepresented communities with technology devices (mobile hotspots and computers). 3. Upskill and reskill low-income, underserved, and underrepresented communities to transition into the technology industry (using tech, developing tech, and/or working in tech) in order to apply for the technical and non-technical jobs on our job board.
2,143 people have already signed, but we need 2,500 signatures!
