Mark your calendars and save the date; the fifth edition of ReThink Austin is around the corner! ReThink Austin 2023 will happen on Saturday, November 4th from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. at the Headliners Club in Austin, Texas. ReThink Austin is presented by Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) in collaboration with Harlem Labs and aims to "re-think" the City of Austin's trajectory in an effort to prevent further divide between the educated and uneducated, the experienced and inexperienced, and the haves and have-nots. During this all-day event, ReThink Austin will explore equitable solutions in technology, entrepreneurship, community impact, transportation, education and energy. This year's theme of Emerging Technology will focus on new and emerging technology, as well as the ongoing evolution of existing technology in the areas of education, transportation, technology, energy, entrepreneurship and community impact. ReThink Austin will examine how technology innovations are being developed and will discuss the social and economic impact of these innovations. Sound like your type of event? Black Genius Academy Ruben Harris and Rachelle Olden discuss the launch of Black Genius Academy — a career exploration app that equips aspiring Black tech talent with resources and knowledge to identify, enroll, and succeed in technical education programs.
Advocating for Internet for All Hundreds of organizations and experts, including Austin Urban Technology Movement, are calling on the National Telecommunications and Information Administration and U.S. Commerce Department to reconsider how the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment ("BEAD") program is written. There are currently concerns that the rules risk excluding thousands of providers whose participation is vital to closing America's digital divide.
