Austin Community College Receives Multimillion-Dollar Federal Grant for Semiconductor Training
Austin Community College (ACC) is getting some more investment into its semiconductor training. The school was awarded a new $7.5 million grant from a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) grant, which was awarded to ACC and partners in the Semiconductor Training Center - the University of Texas at Austin (UT) and the Texas Institute for Electronics (TIE).
Nine Out of 10 Texans Say Housing Costs Too Much
An overwhelming majority of Texans say the state has a housing affordability crisis, according to a poll released Thursday — the latest sign of the growing pressure Texas’ high housing costs have put on homeowners and renters.
Ninety percent of Texans told pollsters with the University of Houston and Texas Southern University that housing affordability is a problem where they live. More than half of Texans polled said they face some amount of financial strain resulting from housing costs.
OpenAI is Taking on Google with a New Artificial Intelligence Search Engine
OpenAI on Thursday announced its most direct threat yet to its stalwart Big Tech rivals: a search engine that uses artificial intelligence baked in from the beginning. The company is testing SearchGPT, which will combine its AI technology with real-time information from the web to allow people to search for information in the same way they talk to ChatGPT. While the search engine is currently in an early test for a limited number of users, OpenAI said it plans to integrate the tools into ChatGPT in the future.
