This is absolutely the year for you!
AUTMHQ UPDATES
Hola and Hello!
As 2022 comes to an end, one basic question arises: "Was 2022 a great year or a tough year?" Our responses are primarily based on one or two major events that occurred during this time period, on which we will pass judgment. But, whether these events were great or difficult, we believe that there were lessons learned that brought growth and made every single life event meaningful. Because Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) is a non-profit that works WITH and FOR the community, we approach every challenge in a way that assists and sets precedents for significant and positive change. We choose to view every experience as an opportunity to learn and grow, as well as to create resources to help others move forward. We now have a chance to make 2023 a successful year by providing opportunities for underserved communities to obtain a better job in technology that will change their lives by earning a higher salary.

On February 22nd, AUTMHQ celebrated Black excellence with a virtual Talking Tech Summit to engage with cutting-edge technology and delve deeper into today's tech landscape. The speakers talked about their technological contributions as well as their efforts to diversify the industry. Our technological showcase helped to lower the entry barrier and increase social capital in our community.
SThree invited Michael Ward Jr, President and CEO of Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ), to speak about our organization's involvement in this coalition to help achieve the mission of addressing STEM inequality through community-driven partnerships, resources, and expertise.
ReThink Austin was presented for the fourth time during SXSW in March 2022 by the Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) in collaboration with Harlem Labs. This year's theme was "Leading by Action," and there were a number of events featuring leaders from the communities we serve. Our guest speakers discussed how to create your own professional board, showed an interactive display on NFTs, and discussed space technology; there will also be a session led by incredible women, all while enjoying music and partying! ReThink Austin is a powerful event that focuses on central Austin issues such as technology, entrepreneurship, community impact, and diversity, equity, and inclusion. Keep an eye out for ReThink Austin 2023, which will take place on March 11, 2023.
Having a strong professional brand and a well-thought-out career story can open many doors for you, particularly when looking for your next job. In this workshop with Google, we learned how to position their career story in a compelling way, improve their online presence, and build a strong network in this workshop. In addition, we learned how to answer the common interview question "tell me about yourself" in order to make a good first impression in your interviews.
During this Horizons by AUTMHQ event, Tyler Rouse, our guest speaker, shared her unique professional journey and answered questions about her transition from Tech Sales to Vendor Management.
Austin Urban Technology Movement hosted another Cohort Series event in collaboration with Dev 10. This is a paid training program for those looking to begin a stable career in software development. Participants train for three months through virtual instructor-led courses. Immediately following training, participants are matched with an employer to work as a full-time software development consultant.
During this Day in the Life by AUTMHQ event, we were able to discuss what makes Felipe's job unique and how his work benefits ZeroCater. If you truly want to make an impact on your own, this is a path you should consider.
We met Stenio Ferreira at this Horizon by AUTMHQ and talked about what it means to be a Google Customer Engineer. He is currently collaborating with the two leading Big Tech hardware manufacturers in the US to find the sweet spot between Edge/On Premise and Cloud.
In this Horizons by AUTMHQ, Phil Martinez and Brittany Bygrave, members of BigCommerce's BCinColor, discussed their unique tech career experiences.
Tenika Small and Abraham Velazquez, two Dropbox employees, shared their unique career stories and how they achieved success in their respective fields while working for one of the most successful and fantastic tech companies.
AUTMHQ hosted the 12 Days of AUTMHQ 2022, and 👉 you can watch all of the videos at this link. This event is an opportunity to gather with the community, with AUTMites, volunteers, partners, and staff, to not only learn about the accomplishments and goals that AUTMHQ has reached and plans to achieve, but also to share fantastic moments and have a lot of fun during the Holiday season!
