AUTMHQ UPDATE
Hello and Hola!
We are thrilled to announce that Austin Urban Technology Movement (AUTMHQ) is celebrating our 5-year anniversary! Over the past five years, our organization has been dedicated to bridging the digital divide, fostering innovation, and empowering our community through technology and education.
Reflecting on Our Journey:
As we celebrate this milestone, it’s important to reflect on the challenges and triumphs that have defined our journey. Like the remarkable African American inventors celebrated during Black History Month, AUTMHQ has faced and overcome numerous barriers to create opportunities for Black and Hispanic innovators and tech enthusiasts.
Despite the persistent inequities highlighted in Stacey E. Plaskett's powerful article, “Sleeping Giants: The Importance of Funding Black Innovators,” our mission remains steadfast. We have seen firsthand the transformative impact of adequate support and investment on our community.
Key Accomplishments:
Digital Literacy Programs: We have successfully graduated multiple cohorts from our digital literacy classes, equipping individuals with essential tech skills.
Partnerships and Collaborations: Our collaborations with organizations such as PCC, HACA, and the City of Austin have been instrumental in our success.
Community Impact: We have contributed to the broader mission of achieving digital equity and economic empowerment by advocating for and supporting Black and Hispanic innovators.
Looking Ahead:
As we move forward, we remain committed to our mission of fostering an inclusive tech ecosystem where Black and Hispanic founders, creatives, and innovators can thrive. The journey ahead is filled with opportunities to make a lasting impact, and we are excited to continue working alongside our community and partners.
Call to Action:
We urge our supporters, partners, and the broader community to continue advocating for and investing in Black innovators in the spirit of progress and resilience. Imagine the exponential benefits to the U.S. economy and society if the promises made in 2020 were fully realized. Together, we can create a more equitable and prosperous future for all.
Thank you for being a part of our journey over the past five years. Here’s to many more years of growth, innovation, and empowerment!
Best regards,
The AUTMHQ Team
