Atlassian can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity. Assuming you have eligible working rights and a sufficient time zone overlap with your team, you can choose to work remotely or return to an office as they reopen (unless it’s necessary for your role to be performed in the office). Interviews and onboarding are conducted virtually, a part of being a distributed-first company.
The Product Security team is responsible for making sure Atlassian products and services are safe and secure. We are looking for a Product Security Engineer who thrives on identifying vulnerabilities at scale and helping engineering teams systematically remediate them.
Your responsibilities will include working to identify vulnerabilities across our products and helping to communicate those vulnerabilities and their impact to the responsible teams inside of Atlassian so they can get them fixed for our customers. You will also have the opportunity to work on securing our open-source supply chain, interact with some of the world’s leading security researchers through our bug bounty program, and build cutting edge tools to help identify and remediate vulnerabilities at scale. It is crucial that you have a good understanding of web application security and a strong ability to work with colleagues to develop and build solutions to help us scale in order to be successful in this role.
Since we build a lot of our own tools and automation, the ability to read and write code is very important. Our team works primarily in Go but as long as you’ve got experience working on web applications in any modern language (Java, Python, etc.), we’ll help you pick it up. As part of the focus on learning at Atlassian, you'll be able to spend up to 20% of your time on independent research.
On your first day, we'll expect you have:
2+ years working in security
Solid understanding of web application security
Experience in cloud security architecture and infrastructure
Experience coding in Java, Python, or Go, and at least one scripting language
An ability to reason about security decisions
An ability to communicate ideas clearly and effectively to engineers who know way more than you about their code
It's great, but not required, if you have:
Published contributions to the security community
Presentation experience at industry events
Experience working with compliance, privacy, IT, networking or related functions
Our perks & benefits
To support you at work and play, our perks and benefits include ample time off, an annual education budget, paid volunteer days, and so much more.
